See every year's Spotify Wrapped, not just this one

Updated

Spotify Wrapped is fun for a few days each December, then it is gone, and it only ever shows one year. If you have been listening since 2012, there are a dozen Wrappeds you either never saw or no longer remember. The good news is that the data behind all of them still exists: Spotify will send you your full listening history if you ask, and StreamHistory turns it into a Wrapped-style summary for every year.

What Wrapped shows, and what it leaves out

Wrapped gives you your top artists, songs and genres for the current year, your minutes listened, and a few playful extras. It is designed to be shared, and it is good at that. What it does not give you:

  • Any year before this one. Past Wrappeds are generally not available to replay.
  • Your all-time favourites across your whole account lifetime.
  • When you listen: the hours of the day and days of the week, month by month.
  • Habits such as how often you skip, use shuffle, listen offline or in a private session.
  • The story of a single artist or song: when you first played it, when you played it most, how much time it got.

Your full history covers all of this, because it records every play since your account was created.

How to see Wrapped-style stats for every year

  1. Request your extended streaming history from Spotify's account privacy page. It is free, but it can take up to 30 days to arrive, so if you want it for December, ask now. Our step-by-step export guide walks through it on a computer or phone.
  2. Download the zip from the email Spotify sends when it is ready. The link expires after some days.
  3. Drop the zip on the home page. No unzipping, no account and no Spotify login. Your file is processed on your device and never uploaded to our servers.
  4. Open the year-by-year view. For each year you get your top five artists and songs and your minutes listened, with a chart of minutes per year so you can see which years you listened most.

Waiting for the export? Spotify's quicker “Account data” package arrives within days and covers about the last year, which is enough for a this-year view. You can also press Try it with invented demo data on the home page to see what the result looks like.

Beyond one year

Once your history is loaded, the free view also shows:

  • All-time top artists, songs, albums, podcasts and episodes, ranked by time or by number of streams (top 100).
  • A listening clock that shows which hours and weekdays you listen most, and a monthly timeline.
  • Your longest streak of listening days, your most-played day ever, and artist loyalty: how many years an artist stayed in your top 10.
  • Search for any artist, song or podcast to see its play history, first play, total time and peak year.
  • Habits: skip rate, shuffle, offline and private listening, devices over time, and the countries you listened from.

Why the numbers can differ from Wrapped

Do not be surprised if your 2023 top song here is not exactly the one Wrapped showed you. There are several honest reasons:

  • Spotify's counting is not public. Wrapped's rules for what counts as a play, and how artists and songs are ranked, have never been fully published.
  • The Wrapped period ends early. Wrapped is calculated from roughly January to early or mid November, so it misses the last weeks of the year. StreamHistory uses full calendar years.
  • Our stream rule is visible. StreamHistory counts a stream when you played at least 30 seconds (you can change it to 5, 10 or 60 seconds). Total time listened counts every play, including short ones.
  • Time zones. Spotify's timestamps are in UTC. We convert them to your time zone, which can move plays around midnight on New Year's Eve into a different year. You can change the time zone in the settings.

Neither number is wrong; they are counted differently. The advantage of the file is that you can see exactly how each figure is made. For the details of every field, see what's in your Spotify data export.

Share cards

Part of the joy of Wrapped is sharing it. With the one-time €5.99 unlock, StreamHistory creates image cards for each year and for all time, in story size (1080×1920) for stories and status updates, and square (1080×1080) for feeds. The unlock also adds full ranked lists beyond the top 100, CSV exports, custom date ranges and support for histories over 150,000 plays. Everything else on this page is free.
